NONPROFIT FINANCIAL GROUP

GOVERNANCE DOCUMENT

PURPOSE: 

The mission of the Nonprofit Financial Group (NFG) is to provide opportunities for networking, professional maintenance and improvement for persons with financial responsibilities in nonprofit organizations.  Regular meetings will be conducted to provide a forum for education through speakers on topics of current interest, sharing concerns and discussion of common issues, sharing and learning current financial management techniques, sharing and learning about government, legislative and regulatory information.

 

MEMBERSHIP: 

Members of the Nonprofit Financial Group (NFG) are persons with financial responsibilities in nonprofit organizations or who provide related services to such individuals.

 

OFFICERS:

Officers will be elected to one-year terms per position at the annual meeting. No more than one representative from an organization can be on the Steering Committee at one time. Officers will consist of:

 

President

Oversees the overall functions of the organization; presides at meetings of the membership; chairs the Steering Committee; and makes appointments to fill any vacancies.

 

Vice-President

In the event of absence or disability, acts in the place of the President; serves on the Program Committee.

 

Treasurer

Prepares the budget and provides quarterly financial reports; pays approved expenses; recommends annual dues amount and collects dues payable each year; and maintains the membership mailing list.

 

Secretary

Prepares and disseminates written communications; maintains the records of the Steering Committee; and maintains the records of actions taken at the annual meeting.

 

 

 STANDING COMMITTEES:

 

Steering

Comprised of Officers, Chairs and representatives of Standing Committees; acts on behalf of the membership to carry out the purpose of the organization; responsible for nominating a slate of officers for the annual meeting.

 

Marketing and Membership

Recruits and orients new members; promotes the organization to the community; periodically conducts surveys of the membership.

 

Program

Selects program topics; coordinates presentations and membership events; arranges speakers and meeting locations. 

 

 

 

MEETINGS:

Membership meetings are held at least four times a year. Fiscal years are July 1 through June 30 each year.  Annual meeting is held during the last two months of each fiscal year.
